Please read before you order
Lead time: Most sculptures will be ready to be shipped, but some may have been recently sold, or just finished, and may be in the process of being cast in bronze. The advantage of waiting is that you'll get to choose the patina of your choice at no extra cost. I will send you color swatches. Please note, in most cases the lead period will never exceed 12 weeks. Please contact me first to find out your wait time. If there's a lead time, a small 10% deposit will be required to guarantee your ownership of the piece. I will send you a photo of the finished bronze prior to shipping for your approval. Full balance due prior to shipping. Taxes may apply depending on your location. Shipping cost the contiguous US is included in the price. Taxes if applicable.
Patina: Is the outside color of bronze. It is the result of a chemical reaction with the copper in the bronze that literally changes the surface color of the bronze. The metal oxidizes when exposed to air, much like an avocado (or any fresh surface for that matter) begins to turn brown after being cut. Two patinas will never be identical, nor the process can be totally controlled or perfectly replicated. When you choose a patina color, from the color swatches, the Foundry will do it's best to match the color but it will never be identical. You can expect it to be 80-90% of the color swatch, but it will be close enough.
A Certificate of Authenticity signed by me will be included with your artwork. It's further proof your piece is an original, made by me, and not a forgery.
More photos: If you like a piece but would like more photos, I'll be happy to send you whatever you need. I get it, ideally you would see it in person but, I'll do my best so you can buy with confidence. My business is mainly word to mouth, your satisfaction matters to me. I love referrals!
Limited Edition number: ABSOLUTELY MATTERS! You should always ask before buying "What's the "Limited Edition number" of this sculpture? My sculptures are intentionally kept under Limited Editions of 9. That's because I don't see my work as only decorative, but as an investment. The smaller the edition number, the more valuable the artwork is, and the more it should be expected to appreciate with time. The most discriminating art collectors, and the most exclusive galleries, will only consider a sculpture "Fine Art", if its kept under limited editions of 9. When you compare similar sculpture prices, you absolutely need to take the limited edition number into consideration.
Not all sculptures are created equal: You should also ask, where was this piece cast? If it was cast in USA, chances are, it's of good quality. How can you measure quality in a sculpture? Pick it up; quality castings feel heavy, as the minimum thickness is 3/8", as opposed to cheaper castings which can be extremely thin and light weight. If a quality bronze fell on a solid floor, it should dent the floor, not the piece. A human figure 24" tall could easily weigh 20-25 pounds. Only good quality bronze will patina in colors other than your common brown/copper penny patina. If you enter a shop where all the sculptures feature this color, chances are, they are not of quality.
Custom Made Sculptures: If you didn't find exactly what you were looking for but you are drawn to my work you may consider commissioning a "Custom-made Private Sculpture". As an added bonus, you will become the sole owner of your piece. Doesn't get more exclusive and valuable than that. Please click on "Private commission" link for more info, then feel free to give me a call 415.948.3099 or email me [email protected], to discuss your particular need.
